Congratulations Lori!! You are the winner of the book "The Summer Garden" I will be sending you an email in a few minutes--all you have to do is reply to that email within 48 hours with your full name and address!!

I don’t normally read contemporary romances but when I was asked to do a review/Giveaway for the Summer Garden I said of course I will. This book has kind of changed my feeling about the genre. This is the 9th in the Chesapeake Shores series (guess who will be getting the rest of the series!). This novel revolves around “Family” with all it’s ups and downs—a very close knit family! When Luke O‘Brien meets Moira O’Malley (in a previous book) sparks fly---Moira with her Grandfather come to America from Ireland—each with their own agenda. All I will say is, so I don’t spoil this book for you, it is a happily ever after (maybe) ending!!

From the back cover:

Falling for “Maddening Moira” O’Malley was the unexpected highlight of Luke O’Brien’s Dublin Holiday. So when she pays him a surprise visit to Chesapeake Shores, Luke is thrilled…at first. A fling with this wild Irish rose is one thing, but forever? Maybe someday, but not when he’s totally focused on establishing a business that will prove his mettle to his overachieving family.

Given Luke’s reaction, Moira has some soul-searching of her own to do. Scarred by her father’s abandonment, she wonders if Luke, with his playboy past, is truly the family man she longs for. Adding to her dilemma, she’s offered an amazing chance at a dream career of her own.

Deep down, though, Moira knows home is the real prize, and that love can be every bit as enchanting as a summer garden.

This book is expected to have an on-sale date in February 2012.

This Mira Book from Harlequin book can be purchased at Barnes & Noble Amazon and other fine bookstores.

I feel like I am on a runaway ROLLER COASTER!!!

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Really, I just can't seem to stop--what with bookkeeping clients calling because they need their 1099's or w-2s done and handed or mailed out by 1/31--couple that with they keep changing the days I can come (my calendar is a series of cross outs and re-entries)and my job in NJ--well lets just say it has been interesting to say the least--I seem to be the last to find out anything and should have been the FIRST!!!!!! So I find myself fixing everything AFTER THE FACT. Is there a full moon out there somewhere---and then the radio tells me that it may SNOW on Saturday and I have to go to a client that day----------farther north then where I live and I THINK I may be working on Sunday as well----------is it any wonder that I haven't written much on here except to get giveaways up and believe me when I tell you there are more coming!!!! I was just sitting here contemplating that maybe I would take tomorrow off but then remembered I told a Temp Agency to come in because a woman in my department is going to have her baby in about 9 weeks--so I gotta get someone in there and TRAINED cause she will be out in our busiest season. And she does all the billing!!!!!! I'm really worried about her too--she doesn't look all that good to me--well I am going to think positive and say she is going to have a very healthy little boy and be back with us 6 weeks or so after she has the baby (I am also going to try to get her to go to a doctor's appt before her next scheduled one). Hum--maybe I'll get my boss to do it--he is absolutely impossible when it comes to babies--I still don't know how I lived through his wife having 2 of them!! You would have thought he was pregnant---I think he paced for the entire 9 months both times!! I think I am going to go lie down and read----I'll get my giveaways into some linkys tomorrow morning (hopefully)

Book Review-The 5th Horseman-James Patterson

The 5th Horseman—James Patterson

I have always loved medical thrillers/mysteries and this is definitely one of the better ones, there is even a legal thriller intertwined! The 5th in the Women’s Murder Club series has too many people dying in a major San Francisco hospital—people who should have never died!! Of course there is a major lawsuit—and then it becomes personal—one of the Murder Club members Mom—also dies in that hospital. This was another one which kept me reading till the end—another midnight for me—The actual ending surprised me no end----------------

From the back cover:

The Women’s Murder Club faces an unspeakable horror in the most gripping medical and legal thriller in years. A young mother is recuperating in a San Francisco hospital when she suddenly gasps for breath and dies. Doctors are completely mystified as other recovering patients inexplicably become deadly ill. Accompanied by the newest member of the Women’s Murder Club, Yuki Castellano, Lieutenant Lindsey Bocer probes deeper into the deaths. Is a maniac playing God? When someone close to her begins to exhibit the same frightening symptoms, Lindsey fears no one is safe. But the hospital is determined to shield its reputation at all costs. And while it wages a court battle that grips the entire nation, Lindsey and the Women’s Murder Club must hunt a merciless killer.”

Book Review-4th of July-James Patterson

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

This is definitely my favorite in the Women’s Murder Club series so far!! I read this in one sitting! Lindsey gets in a whole mess of trouble cause she and her ex partner tried to do the right thing!! Yuki takes Jill’s place as the assistant D.A. in the club. Lindsey goes on a vacation to her sister’s house in a remote small town and gets embroiled into even more murder and mayhem!! I refuse to give the ending away---but you will not see it coming at least with the murders in the little town!

From the back cover:

“ The Bestselling New Detective Series of the Decade Just Got Hotter, Deadlier, and More Suspenseful. In a deadly late night showdown, San Francisco police lieutenant Lindsey Boxer fires her weapon…and sets off a dramatic chain of events that leaves a police force disgraced, a family destroyed, and Lindsey herself at the mercy of twelve jurors. During a break in the trial, she retreats to a picturesque town that is reeling from a string of grisly murders—crimes that bear a link to a haunting, unsolved case from her rookie years. Now, with her friends in the Women’s Murder Club, Lindsey must battle for her life on two fronts: in a trial rushing to a climax, and against an unknown adversary willing to do anything to hide the truth about the homicides—including kill again…”

Book Review-3rd Degree-James Patterson

Monday, January 16, 2012

One of the members of the Women’s Murder Club dies in this episode—no I am not going to tell you who!! You will just have to read it to find out---

This is a twisted plot which is not the easiest to figure out—but at least Lindsey finds someone she can really relate to—besides her beautiful dog of course. The plot is convoluted and the bad guy is NOT the one you are going to be led to believe it is—

From the back cover:

“The Women’s Murder Club returns in a shockingly suspenseful thriller. Plunging into a burning town house, Detective Lindsey Boxer discovers three dead bodies…and a mysterious message at the scene. When more corpses turn up, Lindsey asks her friends Claire Washburn of the medical examiner’s office, Assistant D.A. Jill Bernhardt, and San Francisco Chronicle reporter Cindy Thomas to help her find a murderer who vows to kill every three days. Even more terrifying, he has targeted one of the four friends. Which will it be?”

Book Review/Giveaway-The Sounding-Carrie Salo-Ends 2/11

This giveaway is officially closed!! Thank you for all the comments-all 101 of them!! I just came back from Random.org--and the winning number is.......85

Congratulations Jayedee!! In a few minutes I will be sending you an email--all you have to do is reply with your full name and address within 48 hours and I will forward it on to the publisher who will send you your very own copy of "The Sounding"

The Sounding is Carrie Salo’s debut novel. And what a debut it is!! Her writing style is superb. Now this is what a supernatural thriller is all about----starts off slow and gains momentum with each passing page. This story revolves around “The Book of Revelations”. Whether you believe in this will not matter—but it will scare you with it’s what if type scenario. It takes you from the heartland of America to upper New York State’s farm country to the Vatican to Israel then back again.

I finished this book last night—at MIDNIGHT—I could not put it down. It is definitely not for the faint of heart!! I am hoping she comes out with another book soon—I will definitely be reading it.

From the back cover:

“ IN THE Book of Revelation, a man named John has a prophetic dream. He dreams of the final prophecies that will come to pass—and the seven archangels that guard them. Each angel waits to sound their trumpet at God’s appointed time, preparing humanity to fight and win the final battle.

2000years later, Father Chris Mognahan is a member of the Hetairia Melchizedek, a secret society within the Catholic Church that studies Biblical omens. The society asks Chris to investigate an unusually grotesque crime—a murder on a college campus where the killer’s hand literally burned off the victim’s face. While the killing seems isolated at first, the society ties the murder to the final Biblical prophecy and a terrifying omen that the order of the prophecies is about to be disrupted. The final battle is coming soon—long before humanity is prepared to win it.

Suddenly, Chris finds himself fighting against time and hell to keep the prophecies in order and stop an early Armageddon. He is joined by a band of unlikely allies, and together they find themselves in Rome above the Vatican Necropolis—the City of the Dead—where the future is revealed to them in ancient texts.

They are not alone, however; an evil as old as time itself hunts them. As they travel across continents on their mission, the demonic force follows relentlessly, waiting in every shadowed corner and every dark place.

As Armageddon descends, Father Chris finds that his only hope lies in a young woman within the group who has a secret gift—and their belief that God Himself may have sent her to keep the final angelic trumpet from sounding out the early end of the Earth.”

One VERY lucky reader will be winning this book—Just remember to put your email in each and every comment you make so I will be able to contact you if Random.org comes up with your lucky number. You will have 48 hours to reply to my email.

Book Review-2nd Chance-James Patterson

Sunday, January 15, 2012

The four women are at it again!! Meeting for Margarita’s and food and trying to solve a really nasty series of murders. Lindsey’s Dad, who left when she was very young, suddenly appears back in her life. Cindy is fast friends (?) with a minister. A bit of Jill’s life is revealed. And as for Claire—have no idea what they would do without her!! I did not guess what would happen------will you?

From the back cover:

“The Women’s Murder Club is back! A brilliantly diabolical killer is murdering people from every walk of life. The deaths seem unrelated but police homicide inspector Lindsey Boxer senses a connection and, together with medical examiner Claire, assistant D.A. Jill and Chronical reporter Cindy, finds a link that sends a chill through the entire nation. This killer’s motives are unspeakable.”

Friday the 13th-I wish I could hide under the bed!!

Friday, January 13, 2012

I am not really superstitious, love black cats and have walked under more ladders then I care to remember- but Friday the 13ths get to me--

I was born on the 13th of September (not a Friday) and no matter how I try to convince myself otherwise things seem to happen on a 13th--now on most any other day of the week the number 13 is actually lucky for me--but let it fall on a Friday------and strange things happen. Once (many years ago) things got soooo crazy that I ended up getting underneath my bed--and one of the slats fell down and hit me on the head--guess you could say that was kinda lucky cause the whole bed didn't fall down on me--NOW I own a platform bed!!

I also seem to get into more arguments--which could be because I am so darn tense--but it is like I have a sign on my head that says "BEAT UP ON ME TODAY"-- I've gotten into quite a few verbal disagreements on a Friday the 13th. And today--well I have a meeting at the office--we need to hire a temp for a maternity leave--it is a clerical position where the person will be virtually inputting 8 hours a day--my boss has been vacillating back and forth--this meeting with the temp agency itself today should be interesting to say the least.

And I am too tired to put my giveaways in too many other peoples linkys today--so--please if you see this--come enter some of my giveaways!! Tomorrow I will be back at it (entering my giveaways)----thankfully my client switched from Saturday to Sunday--

Think I'll go and get myself a strong cup of coffee now--

Have a GREAT day all!!

Thursday Thoughts

It is raining out there right now--HARD--and I have to drive to New Jersey-well at least it is not snow-guess I should be happy for small favors!

Yes I decided to join that Goodreads challenge--figured I'd go for 50 books to be read in 2012--probably will be a lot more--but since this is only the second challenge I have EVER done-figured start small.

Just received a book in the mail yesterday from a publisher. It is the first book by Carrie Salo "The Sounding"---Suspense type book. I read the first chapter last night and I have a feeling I am going to like this one!! Once I finish-there will definitely be a review/giveaway.

I was also asked by a client of mine if I would review a book he did (with giveaway) about the state of healthcare and reimbursements in this country. And since I know this person I can state that he knows what he is talking about---so keep your eyes peeled for this one as well.

I also have about 4 Historical romances that are ready to be giveaways--I just can't decide if I should give them away singly, in 2s or 3s---well give me a couple days on this--or if you would like--write a comment below on how you think I should handle this.

Off to the office I go--maybe I would be better off using a rowboat?

Do You think I should go for this?

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

I just received an email from Goodreads (yes I am a member but can't find their button to put up on my blog--so if you would like to friend me on there--I will friend you back!) Back to the purpose of this post-------

At any rate they want me to join a 2012 challenge---but--how many books do you think I can read in 2012? I read a lot but have never kept track of the numbers--
So--first--do you think I should join in? And second how many books do you think I can read in 2012---

A tired mind wants to know

Book Review-1st to Die-James Patterson

Monday, January 9, 2012

As you may have noticed I joined a reading Challenge for 2012--well this is the 1st book in that challenge "The Women's Murder Club Reading Challenge" hosted by Darlene's Book Nook My biggest challenge is reviewing this book without giving away the plot!! Well here it is--(I will be doing a giveaway on this book and the others in the challenge at some point)

1st To Die—James Patterson

The first in the Woman’s Murder Mystery Club series introduces us to the major players and how they came together. Four strong woman, each at the top of their career paths who seem to gravitate towards each other and become fast friends and confidants and in the process solve a terrifying murder mystery.

First is Lindsey, a homicide inspector in the San Francisco police department who is the first have to confront the fact that a malicious killer is targeting newlyweds in the San Francisco area. She meets and falls in love with a fellow officer.

Then there is Claire, a medical examiner who is also a close friend of Lindsey. Claire is the kind of friend we all wish we had.

Cindy, a tenacious reporter, who just started working as a crime reporter on the San Francisco Chronicle is invited by Lindsey to meet Claire at the bar/restaurant where they decide that they should all work together to try and solve this mystery. Of course Cindy has to be sworn to secrecy and promise that she will not “write up” what is known until Lindsey gives the okay.

Jill, an assistant District Attorney, is the last to be invited to this club—a powerhouse who does not like to lose cases and rarely does!

And so it was born—the Women’s Mystery Club—where they joined forces, drank lots of Margaritas, pool their collective intelligence and outwitted the “most diabolical and terrifying killer ever imagined”.

This book can be purchased at Amazon and Barnes & Noble or you can wait and see if you can win my copy!!

It is Saturday and I am feeling LAZY

Saturday, January 7, 2012

Got as many of my giveaways as I could up on others linkys--put up a book giveaway before I went to bed last night (slept like a log even though I thought I might have nightmares!!) been going through emails almost constantly looking for more giveaway linkys---and REMEMBER--mine goes up later this evening or Sunday morning!! So come and enter yours!!

I am trying to convince myself to get dressed and go out for a while--but then I keep telling myself that I can do it all tomorrow as well--LAZY--that's me today--do not feel like getting it together--maybe I will finish at least one of the reviews on Patterson's Murder Mystery series that I finished--but then maybe not.

Do you ever have days where you just do not feel like doing a darn thing?

I'm at a standstill today

Friday, January 6, 2012

It is 6:16 am, I have been up since 5:30 am--got through all the emails on Yahoo and G-Mail-entered an Alexa dropping hop--even commented on a couple of them--but can't seem to get myself to move and enter my giveaways into linkys--too tired I guess. And yes, I do have to drive to NJ today and work--have to leave in an hour. What I really feel like doing is curling up into bed and reading--but if I do that-I will NEVER make it to work!!

I started another book last night-"Quinn" by Iris Johannsen--really good and I will be giving it away to one of my lucky readers when I finish it--It is the first in the series of three where the forensic sculptor Eve is the main character. I have read some of the other books by Johhannsen which featured these characters but this one is getting to me--and it is very hard to put down. I will be buying the other two in the series as well--maybe this weekend I will get over to Barnes & Noble.

Do you have favorite authors?--I know I have a couple of them which I constantly go back to--Jane Feather, Janet Evanovich, Stephanie Laurens, James Patterson, Teresa Medeiros, Iris Johannsen to name a few offhand. Of course I read a lot of other authors books as well but the above are the ones that stick in my mind!!

I know I have a lot of readers who also love to read--now my question to you is----
Who are your favorite authors? Are you willing to pick up a book (or just try to win it) just because the cover interests you? (I have been known to do this on occasion!) AND if there is a book or an author that you think I should read--please let me know--Although I normally don't do this I will try and respond to all comments on this post!! (and I do try to follow back if you ask me to and leave your blog url!)
