Here I go again

Monday, February 28, 2011

Another work week is starting-gonna be a rough ride to both clients today if it doesn't stop raining out there--but I am looking on the bright side--at least it is not snow!! It sounds like the wind is howling--maybe it was a bus passing by--my middle name is not Hope for no reason.
Gremlin. who decided that we had to go to bed early last night is still sleeping--he kinda looked up with his eyes half shut when I got up--then fell back asleep!! Hum, does that mean he will "wake up" as I am about to walk out the door? Probably-----Got a couple of things I have to do before I leave--Have a great day all!!

I received my So Chic Bag Boutique Bags!!!

Sunday, February 27, 2011

JUST GOT WORD---10% OFF FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH!!!!!

And I am LOVING them. The tote bag still reminds my of my blog and it is BIG--can definitely use it to carry around my samples from the various sites where I am an independent representative.

The Shoulder Bag is Perfect for the Spring!! Brown & Pink. The shoulder straps are not as long as I normally like them (I like them really long) but I can put this over my shoulder. It is certainly large enough to put all the stuff I carry around with me and lots of pockets--which is a necessity for me.

I would definitely recommend So Chic Bag Boutique--the variety and quality of the bags is excellent and the service wonderful!!

Happy Saturday!!

Saturday, February 26, 2011

Yeah!!! It is finally the weekend and I only have one small job to go to today!! Most of this weekend is MINE---I love it!!! As I've probably said before this time of year is extremely stressfull for bookkeepers and accountants--we tend to forget what day or even time it is right around now. I really can't wait for this tax season to be over with (and I really gotta do my own taxes LOL) Maybe I will start them tomorrow--maybe---no promises here. Maybe I'll head over to Barnes & Noble after work--buy a couple of new books--and then spend most of tonight and tomorrow reading--been wanting to read "Goodnight Tweetheart" and a couple of others as well.
Now THAT sounds like a great idea--much better then doing my taxes!! Knew I'd come up with some excuse!!!

TGIF!!

Friday, February 25, 2011

I am really tired--I stayed at work to help the accountant yesterday until 7 pm which means I did get home until around 8:15--Needless to say my lord and master (Gremlin of course) was semi hysterical and starving!! Yes, I do leave him dry food during the day--but he NEEDS his wet food in the evening-just ask him. Then, after I gave him food and held his glass of water for him to drink (yes, he has a bowl of water on the floor as well!!) he totally ignored me until I woke up this morning and held his glass once again!! He is hiding in the dining room at the moment--do you think he is a little angry at me for being late last night? At least today I will be able to leave earlier so maybe tonight he will stay with me in my room!!
Better get going----

Good Morning

This morning Gremlin decided that I was supposed to get up at 5 AM. First he meowed from a distance--then when I opened my eyes and told him to come on up-he jumped on the "mornng side" of the bed. Now, this guy has it all figured out--at night he jumps on the bed and goes to the side so I have to turn on by side so my back is to the way I would get out of bed-towards the window. In the morning he jumps to the side that my feet get off the bed. I mean I am supposed to pet him both morning and night--but he really has this down pat. There is a plastic storage box right next to my bed which he sometimes uses to get up and off the bed--he also uses it as a petting stepping stone--I will be petting him and then suddenly I am petting him while he is on that box--all the while he is watching where my feet are under the covers--once I've managed to untangle them--off he jumps from the box and smiles--he got me awake and moving!!!

Wednesday?

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Yes, It is Wednesday and I will be driving all over the place today--at least the sun is out and the roads are clear!!! Gonna have to remember to stop and get gas--1/2 a tank is not going to cut it-not the distances I have to drive.
I've been thinking--why are younger and younger people haveing heart attacks these days--Went to work yesterday to find out that a 52 year old co-worker had a triple bypass!! Frightening to say the least--I KNOW THE DOCTORS like to blame weight and smoking (I smoke and am overweight-so is this guy) but I am slowly coming to the conclusion that STRESS plays a larger role then they are letting on--this person works two high stress jobs--and if you read about the younger people having heart attacks--they also have high stress jobs. I think maybe I will read up on this a bit--has anyone else observed this--

It Is Snowing OUT THERE!!!!

Monday, February 21, 2011

Oh my goshes--and I really was planning on going to work today--but the snow is coming down like crazy--I don't remember hearing it was going to snow but then I was on here all yesterday!! Just Thursday and Friday of last week it was in the 60's--the it dropped to the 20's but the sun was still out--VERY VERY windy!! NOW it is snowing and Gremlin is grinning at the window cause he knows when that white stuff falls from the sky he gets to keep me home all day---and probably because it is Presidents Day--they don't seem to be cleaning the roads----Oh well--maybe I'll take a walk to the corner store in a bit and get what I need to make it through the day!!

Here I go again LOL

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Was going to make those peanut butter cookies from Do You Bake--well guess who does not have all the ingedients AGAIN--I think I will bring the 2 packages to that guy at work who is a GREAT baker and let him make them and then watch them disappear in two minutes or less--maybe I'll even get to taste one of them but then again-------------those people really love the DoYouBake products--I don't stand a chance--my office is not close enough to the kitchen area!!! So--maybe I will make the chocolate cupcakes (and NOT share them-will keep them right here in my apartment)They really don't go stale very quickly at all--well maybe I'll bring in 6 of the 12---

Sunday and I have nothing to do!!!

Well not exactly--but at least I don't have to leave my apartment (Gremlin is grinning). I really should try to re-do all my financial stuff I lost for the year when my computer crashed and needed another board--and it would be nice if I started my own taxes (heard the story about the shoe makers son? He had no shoes) Guess who does not feel like doing any of it--
you guessed right--ME--I may get up the energy to make some more of the Do You Bake muffins--and there is a bag of peanut butter cookies just waiting to be baked--hum I'll let you know if I do any of that later!! For now I'd better go check my email and get another cup of coffee!!
Have a great day all!!

I FINALLY got to make it!!!!

Saturday, February 19, 2011

I'm so excited--after 3 days of not having what I need in the house to prepare the Tuna Noodle Casserole from DoYouBake--I finally did it--IT IS YUMMY--of course as you have probably figured out by now I didn't exactly follow the directions LOL--I used skim milk instead of whole milk for one--I threw everything together in a bowl mixed it up then added the pasta--mixed again--poured it into a baking dish I finally unearthed--sprinkled a bunch of Italian flavored bread crumbs on top dotted with butter pieces--threw in the oven--And just finished eating a very large portion and contemplating going back for more!!!
I also did something that the people at DoYouBake probably didn't realize--well you know that Cho Cho Spice? I think it is meant to be used on Popcorn well anyway I added a bunch to some plain yogurt I had in the house--delicious--it definitely has a cinnamon taste to it and probably would also be good thrown into noodles, cottage cheese and a little sugar as well (a quick dinner I sometimes throw together for myself)-I used to use cinnamin sugar--think I'll use this instead!!!
But PLEASE--never ask me how much of what I put into anything--I really have no idea!!!

Gremlin KNOWS it is Saturday!!

He is calm and patiently waiting for some attention--he seems to know I am not going out today (well I am actually but only to get HIS food and run a couple of errands) AND one way or another I am going to make that DoYouBake? Tuna Noodle Casserole today!!! I finally remembered to buy milk and tuna yesterday--but forgot the cream of mushroom soup-until I got home of course!! I am not really looking forward to going out there--it has been in the 50's-60's for the past two days (HEAVEN) but today it is supposed to drop to the 20's with very high winds-talk a 40 degree change in temp from one day to the next literally--this is NOT a good thing for anyone's health!!! Okay--he's getting a little more impatient now--the tapping on my leg has begun--think I'd better go see what he wants--

I've been up since 4 AM---

Friday, February 18, 2011

Yikes--why I woke up I have no idea but it is already 7 am and I have to leave for work very shortly--I am hopeful that today will be a calm day where most everything will go the way it is supposed to (I tend to try to think positively-sometimes)--Gremlin is sitting on the windowsill hopeing that I will NOT get off this chair and get dressed (he ALWAYS thinks optimistically--I think?)--unfortunately that is exactly what I have to do--
Have a great day everyone!! (why am I in such a good mood?-It was warm yesterday and should be warm today-40 degrees feels warm at this point LOL!!)

Good evening everyone!

Never did make it to the city yesterday--stayed home and blog hopped and played Pogo games instead--just couldn't face it--at any rate I ended up being late this morning and raced out the door without writing a thing--and the accountant was there and my assistant was out sick--and I just got home at 7 PM cause the accountant kept on asking questions LOL--2 Hours it took me to get home--tomorrow it's back to NJ I go--BUT guaranteed I will leave by 4:15 so I don't hit that traffic at the George Washington Bridge!!!
Got a bunch of stuff I gotta do on the computer and Gremlin is vying for my attention (well he was alone for a long time today!!) If you don't hear from me tomorrow morning--I will write when I get home!!

Today I have to work in NYC

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

The older I get--the less I want to take public transportation!!! So I attempt to go to the only two clients in NYC I have left in one day. I actually have let the others go in favor of clients I can drive to!! It isn't the walk to the train (I live close by)--it isn't the train ride into the city (even though 9 times out of 10 I have to stand the entire way cause people insist on taking 1 1/2 seats a piece)--it's going down into the subway system--I just can't breath down there-(Maybe Mayor Bloomberg should worry more about the air quality in the subway system then about not allowing people to smoke in public parks)--but if I don't take the subway there is no way to get to both clients in the same day LOL--and by the time I'm finished and walk the 3 long blocks and wait for a bus to come to take me back to Grand Central Station-----let's just say I end up literally sick every darn time-----and coughing and sneezing for at least a week!!! It's downright dangerous to your health down there!! Now don't get me wrong--I love NYC and wish I could still afford to DRIVE down there and see a Broadway Show or a Ballet at Lincoln Center. And there really isn't anything like NYC at Christmastime at night----and the tree at Rockefeller Center--and all those MUSEUMS (I really love the museums-thank heavens they have parking lots!!)
Well--I'd better go get ready to catch every bug known to mankind (dose myself with echinachea before I leave!!)
Have a great day all--

Next up President's Day

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Now that Valentine's Day is over for another yesr--President's Day which is a relatively new phenomona is next Monday!! Now when I was growing up there was no such thing as President's Day--There was Washington's Birthday and Lincoln's Birthday--(I think big business might have had something to do with this combining--cause we used to get both days off!!) Other then my paranthetical comment the only other reason I can think of is that we have lots of Presidents no longer in office but who are still alive and someone in Political land felt bad cause they weren't being honored as well--Strangely enough I don't remember any sitting Presidents having their birthdays forecast to the general public-maybe their kids birthday parties sometimes--but not theirs. As a freelance I don't get to take very many holidays (Presidents day I always work)--but then--I have to work on MY birthday as well--which reminds me--I better go get ready before I'm late!!
(No-it is not my birthday-that event is in September)

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Monday, February 14, 2011

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! I personally think this should be a national holiday and everyone should get the day off!! But what do I know--I mean really--have you ever seen those lines of people in front of flower shops--all glancing with absolute guilt on their faces at their watches? Or the candy stores--now they really look guilt ridden-at least flowers you have to get at the last possible second--
I traditionally send my Mom something for Valentine's Day--this year I have to admit even I was late in ordering and having it shipped--the snowbird is in her winter hideaway!! I actually got her one of those message in a bottles with a teddy bear from Timeless Messages--there is no way she won't like it!! But I did call and told her it would be late (I won't even tell you what they wanted for two day delivery!!!) She told me that hers to me would be late as well--so I felt a little better--
Since I am not in charge and today is not a national holiday--I'd better go get ready now for work (and give Gremlin a bit more attention--it is Valentine's Day!!!!)

Dog Commuters--for real-and they call animals dumb--NOT

Sunday, February 13, 2011

I'd like to thank my friend for sending me this!! Wish I could give credit to who wrote it originally--alas I do not know

Moscow Dogs

Dogs are allowed on public transport in all of Europe , but generally with their master. This is even more interesting.

Canine commuter... wild dog waits on the platform!

STRAY dogs are commuting to and from a city centre on underground trains in search of food scraps.

The clever canines board the Tube each morning. After a hard day scavenging and begging on the streets, they hop back on the train and return to the suburbs where they spend the night.

Experts studying the dogs say they even work together to make sure they get off at the right stop after learning to judge the length of time they need to spend on the train.

The dogs choose the quietest carriages at the front and back of the train. They have also developed tactics to hustle humans into giving them more food on the streets of Moscow .

Scientists believe the phenomenon began after the Soviet Union collapsed in the 1990s, and Russia 's new capitalists moved industrial complexes from the city centre to the suburbs. Dr. Andrei Poiarkov, of the Moscow Ecology and Evolution Institute, said: These complexes were used by homeless dogs as shelters, so the dogs had to move together with their houses.

Because the best scavenging for food is in the city centre, the dogs had to learn how to travel on the subway to get to the centre in the morning, then back home in the evening, just like people.

An experienced dog enjoying a nap on the underground.

Dr. Poiarkov told how the dogs like to play during their daily commute.

He said: They jump on the train seconds before the doors shut, risking their tails getting jammed. They do it for fun. And sometimes they fall asleep and get off at the wrong stop.

Dog tired... mutt naps on tube seat in Moscow .

The dogs have learned to use traffic lights to cross the road safely, said Dr. Poiarkov. And they use cunning tactics to obtain tasty morsels of shawarma, a kebab-like snack popular in Moscow. They sneak up behind people eating shawarmas then bark loudly to shock them into dropping their food.

With children, the dogs play cute by putting their heads on youngsters' knees and staring pleadingly into their eyes to win sympathy and scraps. Dr. Poiarkov added: Dogs are surprisingly good psychologists.

The Moscow mutts are not the first animals to use public transport. In 2006 a Jack Russell in Dunnington, North Yorks , began taking the bus to his local pub in search of sausages. And two years ago, passengers in Wolverhampton were stunned when a cat called Macavity started catching the 331 bus to a fish and chip shop.

(Gremlin says this is a neat idea and he would love to attempt it but he lives on the 7th floor and can't get to the bus stop!!!)

I LOVE to read!!!

I love to read, have always loved to read, will always love to read--so why haven't I gone out and bought some new books lately? Good question!! I really love Historical Romances (Jane Feather, Lisa Jackson) or Mysteries or Medical Mysteries or Whodoneits!! James Patterson--don't think I have missed reading any of his books LOL--Lately I seem to be re reading the same couple of books over and over again--I have been going to the book bloggers sites to see if I can find one I might want to read--maybe a trip to Barnes and Nobel is in order. I still prefer holding a book and turning the pages (haven't quite decided if I want a Kindle yet)all curled up in bed with Gremlin lying next to me. I need some serious help here-- Anyone read some really good books lately? Please let me know--I promise I will check it out!!!!

Gremlin is not himself today

Ir is Sunday and instead of being woken up to a frantic meowing--I was allowed to sleep. And Gremlin is still lying there on my bed all curled up. I doubt that he trusts me to stay home today--although I did tell him I would last night--Hum---he didn't even finish the rest of his dinner like he usually does in the middle of the night--
Well--that's a little better--I went over to him and was petting him--he jumped off the bed and walked me to the kitchen for his morning drink of water!! I picked him up to cuddle a bit (he hates that) then put him back on my bed--jumped right off and up onto the windowsill where he is lying in what little sun is coming through my window and watching his territory--quess he is just angry at me for some reason or another--as long as he is not sick!!!!!

There are times that I wiah

Friday, February 11, 2011

There are times that I wish that I hadn't allowed myself to be pushed into bookkeeping. I have never really liked doing it--oh there were moments when a really big problem would keep my attention--but no more--now I just wish I had stuck up for myself way back when. I did try once--I went back to college and got a BA in Environmental Science-got a job at a Science Museum--but even there they would throw me into bookkeeping as well--I much preferred working with the kids--when that closed I tried looking for something else in the Environmental field-but since I was already 46 either they wanted me to volunteer or were more interested in my bookkeeping skills!! Needless to say--I eventually went back to bookkeeping. Talking of which--I'd better go drive to NJ right about now--and try to get through yet another day.

What day is today?

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Good morning everyone--I know it is Thursday--but can't seem to remember the date LOL. Guess I'll find out when I get to work--At least I'm up on the computer now--still a bunch of bugs to work out--ike why all of a sudden can't I get to certain websites--tonight I call Verizon and see if they can figure it out. I have a funny feeling that I have to install Microsoft 8--
Gremlin was really funny when that computer guy was here--he kept meowing for attention and getting me as far away from the guy as he could!! And he would not stop meowing until I followed him into the living room!!! I kept trying to tell my mini jealous lord and master that the guy was only here to fix my computer--Gremlin FINALLY relaxed when the door was closed and locked and it was only us two in here!!
Gotta get a move on now--work beckons

I am so very sad-

I am so very sad--when I went down to my car this morning I discovered that someone had broken into it. They dumped out my glove compartment and console-but took nothing (thank heavens they did not take my EZ Pass and I don't keep my registration in my car). They even left 2 bags of potatoe chips-(Lays Sour Cream and Onion) one of which was not open. They did take all the change I have accumulated-(maybe a couple dollars worth)-but left my pen knife--and took the speakers for my computer which have been sitting in an unopened box on my back seat for about 6 months--think they also took my Verizon cell phone kit (which I didn't want anyway)--but I'm still sad--Sad that someone was so desparate for a couple of bucks that they got in my car (I must have left it unlocked on the passenger side at some point or else they had the tool that the police use when you get locked out)and did this. No, I didn't report it--no broken windows nothing of real value gone-
But I am left feeling very very sad.

Just another Monday

Hi everyone--I managed to fall asleep at 7:30 last night (even tho I kept hearing shouting and boos from the other apartments and the apartments across the street from me)--and there was a birthday party going on 2 floors down--I must of been pretty tired to sleep through all that!!
I have 2 clients today---the third cancelled. So just maybe I can catch these two up (pray for me!!)
I have a question for you--do you have a favorite brand of coffee? I am really a coffee drinker and am always looking for that perfect cup!!
Have a great day all!!

Where is Gremlin?

He is in hiding--somewhere--just waiting for me to stand up and get dressed before he appears out of nowhere. He's not under the dining room table this time--nope--not in the closet nor is he locked in any closets, he learned his lesson a couple of years ago! I had opened the closet door where I keep all his stuff-kinda like a pantry--he managed to get in there without me noticing--I closed the door!! Was watching TV at the time and all of a sudden I heard all this frantic scratching. I thought he was using a scratch board (I really should have known better) but the scratching kept up--Finally after about 1/2 hour I went to see what was happening--took me a while to figure out where the scratching was coming from--and you'd think he would have talked--he is a big talker--but no. Well, when I finally opened the correct door--he came out like a shot. Now--before he ventures into any open door--he looks back at me as if to say--I am going in here--do not shut the door!!! Oh--I see him now--he is curled up sleeping on my bed--but notice--if I make a move---------guess who will notice it!!
I really do have to go to work today--I kinda never made it yesterday--(but I did manage to get Gremlin's food yesterday!)
